Jemma Dicken began capturing images after her camera mysteriously broke outside Mumbai Airport on the first day of her backpacking adventures. She has been with pen, ink pot and paper ever since . According to Jemma these drawings are not just just a way of capturing diverse subject matter, but also remembering them. It is the meticulous pace, the act of truly seeing a space , the details, the light, and then transposing them to paper, that allows Jemma to fully own her images. The viewer too, is forced to slow down, to take in the image and hopefully come away with something more than what is conveyed in a simple snapshot.
She now lives with her family in North Devon www.fishertonfarm.com
